GroceWheels, Kigali
In 2017 I (Lawrence, Founder at LHGNET) was part of a team working with Challenges Worldwide - a charitable organisation providing innovative solutions for businesses that engage, grow and connect people to emerging opportunities for development and investment.
I was placed with, GroceWheels - the only fully online grocery delivery service in Kigali. Offering delivery within five hours to anywhere in the city, the enterprise supplies fast and fresh local food to the hospitality industry and to individual Rwandan customers. Its success to date is thanks to placing a high emphasis on both the quality of their products and maintaining great customer relationships through excellent service.
Working with a really recognisable brand is pretty cool in itself but, as an ever increasing number of Rwandans gain internet access, it’s the potential for growth in this enterprise that made working with GroceWheels such an exciting opportunity - especially as a website designer and online business owner.
I was able to identify the key barriers to growth for the enterprise I was working with – through learning about the enterprise from within and getting my hands dirty I discovered as much, if not more than I could have experienced from a classroom.

A Cultural Experience
Working in Kigali with Challenges Worldwide provided me with more than just a professional qualification and invaluable work experience in a stimulating and challenging new environment. Working cross-culturally allowed us to approach entrepreneurship from a new angle and through the experiences shared over my time in Rwanda I learnt so much from my enterprise, counterpart and host. Great professional relationships and life long friends from another country were made, and we continue to stay in contact to this day.
